Jake Allen signed a very reasonably priced two-year contract extension with the Habs this week. Number 34 was in demand around the NHL and it is likely that if he had waited to become a free agent next summer, he could have earned more money, as well as playing for a team more aspirational than the Habs. However, number 34 has instead decided to make a huge compromise for several years of his career, as he accepts the role he has to play with the Canadiens: « I understand why I signed up and for me it's exciting. I could have had a chance to win (with another team), but I'd rather have the Habs players win in the future. - Jake Allen

When it comes to a gentleman and a leader, it's hard to beat Jake Allen. Sure, the cherub lifted the Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019, but his hunger to win is only matched by the good of his young teammates and he just proved it. It's all to his credit!
