With the new administration of the Habs, a fresh wind has come to Montreal. Let's just say that we are far from the Bergevin era, where everything was hidden and ambiguous.

The strength of Kent Hughes is that he does not hesitate to use the resources he has around him to do his job well. On air at 98.5 FM a few hours ago, Chantal Machabée told us how good her relationship with the Habs GM is and how important his opinion is.

« He (Kent Hughes) consults me about a lot of things. He keeps me up to date on everything he does. I appreciate that because I'm always prepared. At one point, he wanted to make a deal to get a Francophone and he was a player who was just passing through and I was like, "Wow, be careful. This player is respected, he is loved. If you're going to get him, you have to play him. You can't just pass him around, you have to give him a contract.

I sent him examples because I never say things like that in the air. After that, he can do whatever he wants with that information. He can do as he pleases, let's say, and go after the Quebecer who is just passing through and that's fine. At least he'll know what the opinion is and how it will come out. »

- Chantal Machabée

Of course, the deal never went through and Chantal is not allowed to reveal the name of the player. However, it's refreshing to know that even on the second floor, teamwork is the order of the day and that a winning mentality is once again taking hold at all levels of the Habs.
