We've been waiting a long time for a number-one center to make an impact with the Habs. Nick Suzuki is certainly an impact player, but let's face it, he's not one of the league's elite at his position, no matter how good he is. A transaction dating back to 2016 could have completely changed the face of the CH, but it didn't work out in the end. P.K. Subban was traded for Shea Weber, but it seems there was another offer on the table. That offer would have brought Leon Draisaitl and the 4th overall pick. To Edmonton: - PK Subban - 9th overall (who became Mikhail Sergachev) In Montreal: - Leon Draisaitl - Darnell Nurse - 4th choice overall (who became Jesse Puljujarvi) Imagine if Bergevin had completed this trade and selected Matthew Tkachuk or Clayton Keller with the 4th overall pick. The Tricolore would look completely different. It just goes to show how valuable P.K. Subban was when he was in his prime.
