There's a lot of buzz surrounding Trevor Zegras. The star forward of the Ducks still doesn't have a contract, and the season is fast approaching. There are indeed negotiations with Pat Verbeek, the GM of the Ducks, but the two sides are far from agreeing. According to the guys from the popular podcast Spittin' Chiclets, the offer made to Zegras is $12 million over three years. Now we can understand why there hasn't been an agreement yet. It's quite absurd, especially when you consider the contract offered to Cole Caufield and other players of the same age with star status. Moreover, at least three teams, including Buffalo and possibly Toronto, are highly interested in his services. As for the Leafs, a trade involving William Nylander would make a lot of sense, as they could sign Zegras for between 7 and 8 million, 2 to 3 million less than Nylander's expectations for his next contract. We still don't know if the Canadiens would be in the mix should Zegras hit the market, but there was a Ducks scout at the Bell Centre on Monday. Now we have to see if that same scout will be present again tonight.
