It was a surprise for us, and a slap in the face for Samuel Montembeault, to learn that he wouldn't be available for the first game of the season in Toronto.

Usually, it's the number-one goalie who starts the season, whether the game is at home or away, especially since there are three days between the first and 2nd duel of the season, which will be Saturday night.

Before the Leafs game, Renaud Lavoie explained Martin St-Louis' decision to the best of his knowledge, and we have to admit, it makes sense.

Nevertheless, now that the outcome is known and Allen let in two bad goals, which many feel cost him the game, we can't help but feel that Samuel would have done a better job.
