In Quebec, but more specifically in Montreal, there is only one of the four major sports, the NHL. After losing the Expos and the MLB several years ago, Quebecers still dream of a return of baseball to Montreal. However, according to a huge news report just recently, it would be NBA basketball that would have the best chance of coming to town in the next few years. Indeed, in a recent tweet, RDS basketball analyst Pete Yannopoulos himself talked about this big deal that could happen in the near future. Even according to his words, an NBA team in Montreal would be almost a done deal. Here is what he had to say: Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum has told me personally that MONTREAL is a fantastic basketball city. He is in contact with the local consortium that wants to bring the NBA to 514. It's not a matter of if, but when (it will happen). - Pete Yannopoulos Prediction - There will be an NBA team in Montreal in the not too distant future. They have many groups interested and with money, including the Montreal Canadiens. - Gabriel Morency Wow! This information is a real bombshell for the city of Montreal. We can therefore understand that the NBA is in constant communication with the group of the former minister and senator Michael Fortier. The latter has been working very hard, behind the scenes, for several years, to make this project a reality. In order to succeed in obtaining an NBA franchise in Montreal, Fortier will certainly have to associate himself with Geoff Molson, in order to benefit from his building: the Bell Centre. For his part, it is almost certain that the owner of the CH Group will not turn his nose up at the possibility of adding at least 42 dates to the calendar of his building, especially for a product that would attract a significant amount of interest. Moreover, an association could also go further than simply renting the Bell Centre. As my colleague William Nadeau of Habs and NHL testifies, the CH already has a marketing, ticketing and operations infrastructure. That's not counting the immense expertise in the use of radio and television media. This is to say that the club could operate very quickly, following an announcement by the league. In fact, journalist Réjean Tremblay had already mentioned the CH's interest in expanding its operations. He had even asked the question to the CH's President, Sports and Entertainment, France Margaret Bélanger. Anything that has to do with professional sports interests us... - France Margaret Bélanger This is really a huge development. Let's hope this project sees the light of day!

Credit: HabsetLNH.com
