Lane Hutson's name has been on everyone's lips since he was drafted by the Habs in the second round in 2022. The defenseman was sensational in his first year in the NCAA and we are really looking forward to seeing him play with the Habs. Unfortunately, it won't be for the next year. It is important to remember that NCAA players do not have an NHL contract and the league refuses to loan players for training camps. According to Elliotte Friedman, Lane Hutson will remain at Boston University for the next season.

It's a shame, but nothing surprising. Hutson may have had an outstanding season, but he is not yet physically mature enough to make the jump and patience is required in his case.
