Major statement on Samuel Montembeault: the goalie has made a name for himself all over the NHL

As Canadiens fans, we remain cautious about Samuel Montembeault. He's shown great promise and we'd like to see him used as a number one this year, but the sample size is too small to be convinced.

However, it's worth remembering that "Snacks" was sublime at the World Championship after the season, being the main reason for Canada's gold medal.

His prowess spread to the four corners of the league, and mainly to Chicago. Their goalkeeping coach, Jimmy Waite, made a huge statement about him:

While we wonder if Monty can be the Canadiens' number-one goalie, one expert on the subject believes he's among the elite, no less!

We'll see soon enough if he really can translate his fine World Championship performances with the Habs, but one thing's for sure, Kent Hughes better get along with him sooner rather than later. If Samuel were to put in a string of solid performances, his next contract would be much higher.
