The Montreal Canadiens have two former Tampa Bay Lightning stars in their ranks, Martin St-Louis and Vincent Lecavalier. If the first one has a very big role in the organization, the second one works more in the shadows, but this does not mean that he is not important for the Tricolore, quite the contrary. In a recent article by Marc Antoine Godin on The Athletic, we learned that Lecavalier's contribution is much greater than one might think. Due to family responsibilities, Lecavalier's main focus is on amateur video recruiting, and he takes his role very seriously. He is developing some very interesting scouting skills, and these are skills that the CH could benefit from. Related to this topic, his former trio partner, Martin St-Louis, told Godin a great anecdote that proves it. Can I say something about that? said St-Louis. Last year, Vinny and I were sitting at the draft table, at the draft, and I'm not really involved with the top prospects. But I was impressed with how ready this guy was, because when they announced the picks, he knew exactly who the player was and he'd say 'ugh, what a terrible pick' or 'this is a great pick. He had done his homework, I was pretty impressed. - Martin St. Louis Besides, the next few weeks are shaping up to be quite busy for the former Lightning captain, with the upcoming June draft looming. He will join the rest of the amateur scouting team, as well as the Canadiens' senior management, to scout the young players who will be participating in the World Under-18 Championship. This is an extremely important tournament for scouts who will be able to compare for the first time prospects from different leagues around the world. As part of his recruiting duties, Lecavalier also takes time to help St. Louis. He watches all the CH games and often has conversations with him about certain players in the lineup. One thing that seems certain is that the former number 4 will most likely take on even more important duties in the next few years, as he wants to wait until his children are older before taking on a bigger role in the organization. The experience he will gain along the way should help him greatly when the time comes for him to take on his next responsibilities with the Habs.

Credit: HabsetLNH.com
