It's the best time of year for speculation and trade proposals. The Hockey Night in Montreal page, on Twitter, is becoming very popular with its trade proposals that get a lot of people talking. They're not rumors, just a way to share with their fans, and we love it! This time, the proposal is to acquire goaltender Thatcher Demko from the Vancouver Canucks. The Canadiens would give Samuel Montembeault and some picks would be involved.

To Habs: Thatcher Demko, 2024 3rd

To Van: Sam Montembeault, 2025 1st (CGY), 2024 2nd, 2025 2nd- 𝙃𝙊𝘾𝙆𝙀𝙔 𝙉𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏 𝙄𝙉 𝙈𝙊𝙉𝙏𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙇 🏒 (@HNIMtl) July 23, 2023
Basically, it would bring Thatcher Demko and a 2024 3rd-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens. And in exchange, Kent Hughes would send to Vancouver: Samuel Montembeault, a 1st-round pick in 2025 (the Flames') and two 2nd-round picks (one in 2024 and the other in 2025). If we look at young Demko's stats, it's 2.90 goals-against average and .910 career save percentage. Remember, the Canucks are far from an NHL powerhouse. However, Samuel Montembeault showed great promise last season, and even more so at the most recent World Championship. He's definitely part of the Canadiens' plans, and we wouldn't trade him unless the offer was impossible to refuse.
