If you're a part of the hockey community you know that fans are exceptionally passionate about the game. So, when they witness a player on their team failing to show an appropriate level of effort, they tend to get upset. This was definitely the case during a recent clash between the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers in the preseason.

In the first period of the game, Lafreniere clearly decided to give up his pursuit in a critical back check that eventually resulted in an Islanders goal. As the puck slid into the center of the ice, Lafreniere appeared far out of position, opting for a lazy attempt to reach the puck, which ultimately landed on an Islanders player's stick. The puck found its way into the net with ease, giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead.

"Beautiful Feed from Lee to Pageau after Gauthier starts the play"

Lafreniere is already under a ton of pressure in New York and doesn't seem to be on their good side, this play definitely didn't help his cause.

"I would cut Alexis Lafreniere from my hockey team tomorrow for this bullshit. Biggest bust in NHL history."

Clearly, this marks a pivotal year for Alexis Lafreniere, and Rangers fans can only hope that this situation lights a fire under him because he has all the skill in the world but just hasn't shown it yet at an NHL level.
