A rather unique situation occurred today as the NHL fined the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.

The team will have to pay $100,000 for not respecting the holiday break. The league's collective bargaining agreement stipulates that December 23-26 are supposed to be free of team activities.

"The National Hockey League announced today that it has fined the Toronto Maple Leafs organization $100,000 for the team's trip to St. Louis on December 26, 2022. This team activity was in violation of Article 16.5(b) of the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NHL Players' Association. The fine is being paid to the NHL Foundation." - NHL Public Relations

In addition, TSN's Chris Johnston also just reported that Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe was also fined, when he will have to pay $25,000 for "demeaning conduct toward officials."
