Whether we liked him or not, we can say that P.K. Subban left no one indifferent amongst Habs fans. With a style of play that was both electrifying and risky, the former number 76 could get us out of our seats with his excitement and give us gray hairs with his turnovers in the same game. Subban was a guest on The Pivot Podcast recently and he finally broke the silence on what prompted Marc Bergevin to trade him. The newly retired player admitted that despite the honor of playing for Montreal, there are strict rules to follow. The tradition with Montreal is that no matter which star players had big names or got bigger than the team, they would trade them. - P.K. Subban When a player gets bigger than the team, it's a problem in Montreal, but P.K. had a mind of his own and nothing was going to stop him from achieving his goals. What happened to me is nothing special in terms of history. Definitely, when my career started, I started my own brand. [...] That was a big deal because they were paying me to be a member of the Montreal Canadiens, but I was telling them, 'OK, so let's work on a way that our brands can co-exist.' - P.K. Subban P.K. is not at all bitter about what happened. The team has a rich history and has had a lot of success keeping a certain culture and he respects that. They have a very rich history of success, with 24 Stanley Cups, so they believe in their own methods. - P.K.
