We've been talking about it for a few years now: Patrick Roy is ready for a return to the NHL. Whether as general manager or head coach, he proved his worth in junior and is now waiting for the NHL. Asked about his future and the Ottawa Senators recently at Serge Savard's golf tournament, Casseau dropped a few hints. D.J. Smith has never led his team to the playoffs in four seasons. So if the Sens were to show him the door, Roy would be an interesting candidate. For sure, if the phone rings we'll listen, but right now they have people in place who are doing a great job. And is working in the capital of interest to Roy? Ottawa is a great hockey town, just like everywhere else». So Roy left the door wide open. We know that the Senators' new owner is a former minority owner of the Canadiens, so he knows and respects Roy to the max. D.J. Smith is still Pierre Dorion's right-hand man in Ottawa, but the pressure will be on if results don't come fast enough, and that's where Patrick could get a call. It's safe to say that his return is conditional on the Senators getting the season off to a good start.

He's been having the time of his life since announcing his retirement!!https://t.co/7IHPxilsb1- TVA Sports (@TVASports) August 15, 2023
