As of 24 hours ago, we can confirm that an unofficial agreement has been reached between the Winnipeg Jets and the Los Angeles Kings for Quebecer Pierre-Luc Dubois. Dubois is expected to make the deal official by signing a long-term contract extension with the Kings, but it's still not happening, and that's cause for concern. According to reports, Dubois really wants to go to Los Angeles, but you can't sell the bear's skin too quickly.

Dreger says Winnipeg isn't looking to rebuild and isn't very interested in the roster players Montreal is willing to move. A source close to Dubois said it's too soon to rule them out, as unlikely as it seems right now. https://t.co/ucQ8bUL8Po- Arpon Basu (@ArponBasu) June 26, 2023
Kent Hughes certainly doesn't have as much as the Kings to give for this deal. After all, we hear they're offering Quinton Byfield, Gabe Vilardi and Alex Iafallo, which is a pretty huge return. However, Dubois has the final say, as he absolutely must agree to sign long-term with the Kings for the trade to materialize. To be continued...
