Jacob Trouba and his nasty slash have caused controversy throughout the NHL over the last 48 hours. Yesterday two prominent NHL analysts added their voice to the discussion.

Trouba Receives Maximum Fine For Brutal Slash

In a game between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins, things got heated during a battle in front of the net. Jacob Trouba and Trent Frederic were shoving in front of the net when things got out of hand.

Trouba looking frustrated loaded up and swung his stick right at Frederic's head.

nah cuz ??? what? was this??? is trent good? i absolutely hated that

The slash was clearly violent and incredibly dangerous regardless of intent. The NHL reviewed the play and fined Jacob Trouba $5,000 the maximum allowed under the CBA.

NY Rangers' Jacob Trouba has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for High-sticking Boston's Trent Frederic.

To most people who watched the play a fine was not a sufficient punishment. Many expected a suspension to be handed down to Trouba. This led to major outrage on social media and even from NHL analysts.

MacLean And Bieksa Flame The NHL

After the suspension was handed down two of the first major voices to respond were Kevin Bieksa and Ron MacLean on Hockey Night In Canada.

"That's unbelievable, how can that only be a $5,000 fine?" asked McLean during the broadcast.

"Jacob Trouba Fred Flintstone's Trent Frederic with a bit of a follow through," said Bieksa. "The Rangers won this game but we will probably be talking about the Trouba Fred Flintstone for a while."

MacLean is on the same page as many people shocked that there was no suspension.

No suspension?

Absolute joke.

Blatant, disrespectful and a horrible look for the game.

Trouba dodging legitimate punishment from NHL

With no suspension handed down by the NHL the Boston Bruins will likely take things into their own hands the next time these two teams meet. That game will be a must-see as Trouba will be the target of aggression and retribution from the entire team.
