This week, Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes held an important press conference to review his team's mid-season performance. During the daily On Jase show on RDS, host Martin Lemay commented on some of Hughes' statements, along with journalist François Gagnon. Where it gets more interesting is when Lemay shared a theory about what he believes Hughes' strategy is. According to him, the CH GM has been actively trying to trade forward Josh Anderson since he took over the team. He would like to get at least a first round pick in return for his power forward. According to the host, Hughes is doing everything he can to attract interest from NHL teams by trying to increase the value of his player on the trade market. I think, and this is something that's done regularly in the media, that Kent Hughes whispered in Pierre LeBrun's ears to get him to report that there was a lot of interest in Josh Anderson and allow him to go out and get a first round pick. - Martin Lemay It has to be said that it would be a clever tactic on Hughes part to use reporters, in an effort to boost his player's value through speculation. In fact, during his press briefing, Hughes admitted that he had a meeting with #17 to clarify several points, including the fact that he can't promise him that he will stay in Montreal or be traded by the trade deadline. Basically, his fate will depend mostly on the offers he receives from other teams. If he ends up receiving the desired price for his forward's services, Hughes will not hesitate to trade Anderson. Josh Anderson, 28, has 13 goals and 3 assists for 16 points in 44 games so far this season. He is currently in the third year of a seven-year contract that pays an average of $5.5 million per season.

Credit: HabsolumentFan
