The Flyers are at a crossroads and everything indicates that the organization will go through a real rebuilding process soon, as the new general manager of the team, Daniel Brière, has confirmed some big changes.

Dramatic turnaround coming to Philadelphia involving Carter Hart?

According to what was just reported by Sportsnet's renowned Elliotte Friedman, Carter Hart will be available for trade this summer.

Wow, this is certainly a big piece on the trade market that could attract a huge amount of interest.

Of course, among the teams that are likely to be on the lookout for this, is the Montreal Canadiens.

Kent Hughes has expressed interest in finding a goalie of the future for the Tricolore, either through a trade or through the draft. It is almost certain that he will be very interested in the latter, if he becomes available in Philadelphia.

In mentioning this, we must be careful with this information, because it does not mean that the goaltender will be traded to Montreal. Everything could depend on the price the Flyers ask for him.

Despite the emergence of Samuel Montembeault, the addition of a young goalie already established in the NHL like Hart, would greatly accelerate the rebuilding process. Despite the Quebecer's excellent season, he is more of a great number two goalie than a good number one.

As for Hart, he's already playing his fifth season in the pros, and he's only 24 years old. He has the potential to be one of the best in the business, he just needs to have a solid team defensively, and that's what the Habs will have in their lineup soon.

If you're thinking long term, you need a goalie who can win a Stanley Cup and Hart can be a great number one goalie in this league.

Elliotte Friedman mentioned a detail that would explain the possible divorce between the organization and its goalie.

"The Flyers love their young goalie Samuel Ersson."

The Flyers' No. 79 comes with an attractive $3.79 million contract for yet another season. One of the pertinent details is that he will become a restricted free agent, meaning the organization will still retain his rights to give him a very reasonable long-term contract after that.

In short, this is a very big deal to follow, and it would be really major if Carter Hart is ever traded, especially if it's to Montreal.
