As you know, Kent Hughes signed Sean Monahan for another year before he became a free agent on July 1. It's a pretty amazing signing, given the number of center players the Habs have. According to Dany Dubé, it's simply a matter of buying time. Monahan is quite a hockey player, but injuries have taken their toll on him more often than not in recent seasons. However, Kent Hughes signed him while waiting to acquire a top-notch center, according to Dubé. And that player could well come from the draft, as Monahan could change destination at the trade deadline, in exchange for a 1st-round pick.

🏒Sean Monahan, a time-defying signing by the Montreal Canadiens.

But what about Dubois? Hughes' plan, however, seems very clear and that is to acquire a top-notch center. This means that several players are not in the GM's long-term plans. These include Christian Dvorak and Jake Evans, who could change addresses, as well as Alex Newhook and Kirby Dach, who could be used on the wing.

His return to town opens up possibilities for Kent Hughes → https://t.co/q6Tgd6fuMb- DansLesCoulisses (@DLCoulisses) June 21, 2023
