The selection of the Montreal Canadiens' new captain is not to be taken lightly. Nick Suzuki became the 31st in team history to receive the honour, becoming the youngest person to wear the C at 23 years of age.

It all started around the draft when Martin St-Louis asked Nick if he wanted to be captain. The number 14 took the summer to think about it and he did his homework.

Indeed, Suzuki spent most of his summer in Montreal, getting very involved in the community. In addition, No. 14 sought the advice of several people, including former captain Shea Weber, who confirmed that he was ready for the challenge.

It was only recently that Suzuki made the decision to accept the offer. Like the organization, the new captain took the time to do things the right way and not make a hasty decision, even though he knew deep down that he would accept.

Finally, the decision to name Suzuki was made without input from the players, but with comments from Brendan Gallagher, who said that Suzuki is the heart and soul of the team, and several other players, the choice seemed pretty unanimous.
