David Reinbacher's selection as the Habs' 5th overall pick wasn't unanimous, of course, but we have to come back to it. The Habs have reason to believe that this was the best choice for them, and we have to get used to the idea. When we hear horror stories like threats made to players, it makes our blood run cold. Unfortunately, it happened to Reinbacher and we need to put things right. We have every right not to be happy with the selection. We have every right to be emotional and to question the competence of Habs management, but under no circumstances is it acceptable to attack an 18-year-old who has just been drafted. Reinbacher has received thousands of hate messages and even personal threats from fans in Montreal. It's totally disgusting and unacceptable to shatter the dream of a young man through no fault of his own. The Habs organization got involved, and the defenseman may not come to North America this season for safety reasons. The situation has become serious. Nevertheless, we know that it's a minority of fake fans who do this, and we know that you, the real Canadiens fans, will give Reinbacher a lot of love despite the disappointment of his draft position.

Credit: RDT
