There were some nice surprises at the Canadiens' training camp. A number of youngsters, including Joshua Roy, left their mark on the team. However, if there's one player who couldn't miss out, it's Filip Mesar. Mesar said he didn't want anything to do with playing junior last year, but he did it anyway. This year, he absolutely wants to play for the Rocket, but he hasn't yet convinced Jean-François Houle. I got Jean-François Houle to talk about the Filip Mesar case in terms of whether he ended up in the same place as last year with two options; the AHL or the OHL. He may be at the same level. There's no one who's guaranteed to make the team here. Yes, we have to develop, but we also have to put the youngsters in the right chairs. The player has to get the ice time he needs to improve. Anthony Marcotte, the voice of the Rocket So there would be no improvement in Mesar's game, who may well have to return to the OHL. The young Slovak will have an important decision to make, as he would earn much more money playing in Europe. Could he be tempted to go? We'll have to keep an eye on this one, but there's every reason to believe it's a strong possibility.
