Just when you thought the Habs and Rockets were set for next season, a trade has just taken place. Kent Hughes picked up a forward from the Ottawa Senators. We're talking about Jakov Novak, a 7th-round pick in 2018. In exchange, Kent Hughes is offering future considerations to Pierre Dorion. What's surprising about this acquisition is that Kent Hughes is already over the salary cap, and there's no reason to believe he'll be trading close to 5 million by the start of the season. Acquiring a player, and therefore salary, for nothing (or almost nothing) is therefore rather contradictory. Does this mean there will be other transactions before the start of the campaign?
