The GM of Team Canada at the World Juniors, Peter Anholt, completely embarrassed himself when he was asked about the team's roster and the answer he gave. The 2025 World Junior Championship has had its equal share of controversy as far as Team Canada's performance goes, with head coach Dave Cameron defending his highly controversial decision to cancel team practices. Team Canada's General Manager, Peter Anholt, does not budge. While speaking to reporters, he mentioned that Canada wasn't the only team that showed up to win and said he wouldn't change the roster or the coaching staff even after another disappointing quarterfinal exit. There's 4 or 5 teams that could win this tournament, and the other teams try to...we're not the only team that tries. I wouldn't make any changes on the lineups that we had and the personnel that we had. - Peter Anholt

Hockey Canada is again in the crosshairs following its loss to Czechia, but Peter Anholt defended the chemistry between his players, saying his team lost because it didn't score enough and not because of roster issues. That's not really how it works. When you look at this team, I liked the chemistry... we just didn't score enough goals - Peter Anholt

Discipline, or a lack of it, got in the way for Canada again, which continues to raise questions as to some of the coaching decisions and players left out. The General Manager of the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes since 2015, Anholt doubled down on decisions made despite critical comments from fans and pundits. Anholt was General Manager and head coach of the Hurricanes for one season. Adding insult to injury, the players of Team Czechia hooted and taunted Canada, as if to add to the theatrics of their victory against the Canadian side. In fact, hockey personality Don Cherry said that what's wrong with Hockey Canada is its ever-changing coaches who should remain stable for the future.
