The catastrophic injury situation is likely to be the main topic of the 2022-2023 season.

In addition to seeing the Montreal Canadiens roster become tore down, the misdiagnosis of injuries, in addition to the completely wrong timetables for their return, are two elements that fuel the frustration with this huge problem within the Montreal organization.

The latest update offered by the Tricolore for a few players on the sidelines is no exception, as we learn a very disturbing development regarding Kirby Dach.

Here is the official press release:

"UPDATE:

Dach (lower body) will be out indefinitely.

Gallagher (lower body) will be out for 3-4 weeks.

Xhekaj (shoulder) underwent surgery on March 1. A full recovery is expected. He should be back to full strength for training camp."

So, to recap, on February 16, the 22-year-old forward was diagnosed with an illness, which was not related to COVID.

On February 23, the organization issued a new update that indicated that following medical tests and a thorough evaluation, they found that his symptoms were related to a lower body injury.

From that point on, it was only stated that #77 would not be joining the team for the road trip, suggesting no long term absence.

Now, two weeks after the announcement of Dach's illness, the Habs reveal that he will be out indefinitely.

This is clearly another case that was managed in a very poor manner, and that has led to a series of bad diagnoses, to finally end up with a worrying long-term absence.

Basically, if he had a lower body injury, why did the organization continue to play him, especially since it was a season to forget for the Habs?

This is really a major problem, especially since this kind of bad decision on the part of the organization, in relation to its injured players, may well have cost the Habs a very interesting return for the services of forward Sean Monahan.

Speaking of mismanaged files in terms of injury, we also learned that Brendan Gallagher is far from a return to the game, he injured his foot at the beginning of January. A few days later, on January 11, the CH announced that he would miss six weeks of activity.

We are now at eight weeks of absence for the number 11, and the Tricolore has just announced that there are still three to four weeks before he can make a return to the game.

Injury management has been a disaster this season and it is imperative that the team's management focus on fixing it this summer.
