The Montreal Canadiens are looking to bolster their goaltending team in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. With the fifth overall pick and a first round pick acquired from the Florida Panthers last year, general manager Kent Hughes has his work cut out for him.

Recently, former goaltending coach Stephane Waite offered his opinion on what the organization should do with its draft picks. During an appearance on the 98.5 podcast Sortie de Zone, Waite suggested that Montreal target a goalie, late in the first round.

"Right now, enough with the drafts! It's time to draft a goalie that we know is going to play in the NHL. I can even name you three names that the Habs should target in the late first round. Carson Bjarnason, Michael Hrabal and Alexander Hellnemo."

All three of these players are young prospects who represent a long-term investment for the Canadiens. With Jake Allen and Samuel Montembeault already under contract, selecting one of these goalies could give the organization time to develop them over several years without having to put them into action too early.

Michael Hrabal, an 18-year-old Slovakian prospect who stands 6'6" and weighs 215 pounds, is particularly interesting. In terms of size, he easily stands out from the other goalies in his age group and could become a real monster between the pipes in the years to come, which would certainly please Habs fans.

Ultimately, it will be up to general manager Kent Hughes to decide which of these prospects (or any others) he will choose to help the team become a true Stanley Cup contender one day.
