Today Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon spoke about a recent fine he received and decided to give a shout-out to Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid. Earlier this week Edmonton Oilers superstar forward Connor McDavid received a three-game suspension for a cross-check against the Vancouver Canucks. In the days following the suspension, many notable personalities in the hockey community, including players like Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin, spoke out in defense of McDavid. Now this afternoon McDavid's stardom and notoriety for his suspension seems to have crossed over into another sport entirely with NFL star running back Joe Mixon taking notice of the situation during a recent press conference.
Texans running back Joe Mixon gives a shout-out to Connor McDavid
This past weekend, the Houston Texans played the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional round of the NFL playoffs. Despite their best efforts the Texans fell to the Chiefs and were eliminated ending their season. Today it was revealed that Mixon was fined for comments he made about the officiating after the Texans' loss to the Chiefs on Saturday which can be heard below.

Once the fine was made public by the NFL and the media Mixon took to X to discuss the punishment he received. Mixon was incredibly confused by the fine as he did not criticize the referees in the way the NFL is accusing him of doing. Then Mixon went on to make a joke regarding Connor McDavid saying that the fine by the NFL makes as much sense as if he were fined for McDavid's cross-check. I'm getting fined by the NFL for what someone else said. What's next? I get fined by them for Connor McDavid cross-checking an opponent on a NHL game!

While both players feel they were unfairly punished by their respective leagues and that those in charge should have made a different choice life moves on. Mixon will pay his fine and McDavid will continue with his suspension until he can return back to action.
