The NHL has a lot going on with the trade deadline coming up on Friday. Teams have just over 24 hours left to make acquisitions to strengthen their teams for the playoffs.

Julien Brisebois is known for not being afraid to sacrifice picks and prospects to acquire established players. It must be said that his strategy has paid off in recent years.

The Bolts' GM traded defenseman Vladislav Namestnikov for Michael Eyssimont, freeing up some space on his payroll. The Lightning now have 1.75M of cap space, which is exactly 50% of Joel Edmundson's salary.

A media outlet that has been following the Lightning's activities for 22 years has confirmed that the hype is serious for Joel Edmundson. If Kent Hughes holds back 50% of his salary, it's very possible that it will happen.

Again, the Lightning don't have much left to give. Their remaining picks are not very enticing and their prospect bank is not very strong, except for one or two names. It remains to be seen if Kent Hughes will have any interest in making a deal with his counterpart Brisebois.
