Shane Wright's start to his career has been far from what the young man had hoped for. Limited to just seven games and one minor assist so far this campaign, Wright has been left out more often than not. It's an odd strategy on the part of the Kraken. Leaving a youngster hanging out in the stands isn't necessarily good for his development. If Wright has only played seven games, why don't they send him to junior? It sounds like the organization is afraid to send him back to the minors, so they turned to the American League. Wright has been assigned to the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the Kraken's school club, for conditioning purposes.

Wright cannot stay in the AHL all season. He must play in the NHL or junior, but for conditioning purposes, the organization can subject him to a 14-day maximum. That means the Kraken is buying themselves time with him and they have no intention of playing him in the NHL in the next few days. Another slap in the face for Wright.
