Whether we like it or not, in Montreal, Juraj Slafkovsky and Shane Wright will always be compared. The Canadiens preferred the Slovak to the Habs and only time will tell if it was the right decision. In the short term, we still don't know if the Habs' first pick will play in the NHL this year, while the fourth overall pick is becoming clearer. Pierre LeBrun spoke with the Kraken's general manager Ron Francis, who was willing to give details on the young center's future: « Shane Wright will obviously play the entire season with the Seattle Kraken, according to general manager Ron Francis. [...] And when in doubt, I made sure to ask (Francis) if Wright would start the year in Seattle. -I would think so, I would think he starts the season in Seattle, Francis said (with a small smirk). -For the whole season? -I don't want to draw a definitive line yet, but I think he's with us for the year, Francis said. It's just a matter of how things go and how we handle it. But I hope it goes well, I think it's going to go well for him. - From an article by Pierre LeBrun on The Athletic If Wright were to start in the NHL this year and Slafkovsky were to join the Laval Rocket, the rumor mill would most likely be in full swing in Montreal. All we have to say is relax. Slaf is young and it doesn't matter what level he plays at this season, the important thing is that he has a nice progression curve, to ultimately become a great NHL player.
