This evening a new report has shed some light on the continued disaster that is the Vancouver Canucks season as Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are injured. Heading into the holiday break the Canucks were looking to move forward from the drama surrounding Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller. While the controversy between teammates seems to have cooled for the moment the Canucks have been thrust right back into uncontrolled chaos as they are now dealing with a rash of injuries. Heading into the holiday break all seemed well as both Pettersson and Hughes played in the Canucks game on December 23rd against the San Jose Sharks. Pettersson seemed to get hurt during the game against the Sharks missing a significant portion of the third period.

However, Pettersson and Hughes have been away from the team since the break due to injuries and did not play against the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. Despite not playing, concern hadn't grown too strong about either player's possibility of a long-term absence until today.
Canucks missing both Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes once again
Today the Canucks conducted a practice to stay fresh as they do not play until Tuesday and once again Pettersson and Hughes were not seen on the ice with the rest of their teammates.

Since conducting practice the Canucks and head coach Rick Tocchet have not given an update on either player but it does seem that they could be looking at an extended absence beyond just a few days. As the Canucks next game approaches on Tuesday we will continue to update both the status of Pettersson and Hughes as they continue to work their way back to playing shape.
