Carter Hart is one of five former NHL players who prepared statements to the court to skip non-essential pre-trial hearing in order to keep his hockey dream alive.

Hart is attempting to move back to the US so that he can prepare himself for a comeback into hockey. He wanted to move from Alberta to Tennessee but has recently been denied entrance into the US.

The players have been able to skip non-essential court dates citing numerous reasons from work to playing hockey abroad. Hart is one of two players who are currently not playing hockey but are looking to return to the game and filed statements to miss these hearings in order to train.

Recently Hart hired an immigration lawyer in attempts to move to Tennessee so he can train full-time in an effort to get back into the game.

Hart was a goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers and is looking to get back into the US. In his statement, Hart tells the courts in his affidavit that it would be impossible for him to train and get back into hockey shape.

«If I am required to attend the pretrial motions, whether in person or remotely, it would be impossible for me to maintain my daily training regimen. I have been previously denied entry to the United States due to my criminal charge.»

Justice Bruce Thomas has agreed to all of the requirements back in August citing the need for these players to try to resume their normal life and routines during the pre-trial. He further stated that their lawyers will represent each of the accused during any pre-trail hearings.

"Each applicant has committed to personally attending each day of their trial.»
said Judge Thomas in regard to the trail itself. They have also committed to being present for their pleas when the jury is selected, and trial is set to take place in 2025.
