The AHL tends to be a more chaotic and wild version of NHL hockey on a night-to-night basis. This was especially true tonight for the Toronto Marlies and Laval Rocket.

Former NHL Enforcer Causes Chaos After Running Over Opposing Goalie

Tonight the Toronto Marlies and Laval Rocket went head to head in a race for a playoff spot in the AHL. In the late stages of the first period, Marlies enforcer and former NHLer Kyle Clifford skated hard into Laval Rocket goaltender Jakub Dobes. After Clifford separated from Dobes he had to deal with Laval forward Olivier Galipeau.

Kyle Clifford runs into Jakub Dobes and then gets into it with Olivier Galipeau.

After the fight was broken up each team went their separate ways. Clifford and Galipeau were each given penalties. Clifford got 4 minutes for roughing while Galipeau got 2 for roughing.

Kyle Clifford gets 4 for roughing and Olivier Galipeau gets 2 for roughing at 15:20. Our penalty kill gets to work.

In the end, the Marlies would come out on top and widen the gap between them and the Rocket heading into the last couple weeks of the season.
