Jakub Lauko is a Czech-born player who plays for the Minnesota Wild, and he recently took to social media to brutally mock Team Canada following their loss. A National Hockey League forward may be fast becoming one of the least-liked individuals among hardcore and plentiful Canadian hockey fans. His comments may even annoy a few Canada-born NHLers. Many are still coming to grips with the incredible early ousting of Canada from the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Junior Championship in a series of upset losses. The early ousting by the team has resulted in mass criticism by fans and pundits alike, with many questioning the makeup and strategy of the roster. At the root of such frustration, Minnesota Wild forward Jakub Lauko poured salt into the wound when he took a dig at the Canadian team via social media. Jakub Lauko posted a video of the late third-period power-play goal of Czechia, a dagger that sealed Canada's elimination, while he celebrated his home country's victory. You love to see it, wrote Lauko in his caption of the video.

To be fair, much of what Lauko said likely came out of pride in his country, as Czechia was responsible for ending Canada's run in the tournament. But surely, an added measure of satisfaction has to come with knowing his team has taken down a great hockey nation such as Canada. Lauko wasn't done there. He even went through his timeline to find a tweet from 2024 when he had Trash Talked Canada over a similar win.

This latest post showed a growing trend of Czechia taking down Canada in the most recent international tournaments. I can almost feel Lauko's comments are not going to go over well in the NHL. It wouldn't be out of the question whatsoever if a few Canadian-born players jotted a little mental note of his shenanigans and a number to remember the next time their teams go against the Minnesota Wild on the ice.
