A former member of the National Hockey League called out current players for embellishment in the playoffs in a recent TV segment. There's been a lot of criticism from fans about how players embellish their reactions to get a powerplay. This is something we've seen in almost every playoff games this year, but especially in the series between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks. It's not secret that teams who can reach that point of the playoffs have great powerplay units that can change the outcome of games. Sadly, some players use all possible strategies to draw penalties to their opponents. On Saturday night, the Sportsnet broadcast discussed that issue. A former tough guy in the NHL, Luke Gazdic, opened up and shared his opinion about what he qualifies of embellishment epidemic. This is what he said: I think we officially have an embellishment epidemic on our hands in the National Hockey League. It's not just this series it's all across the National Hockey League. It's every single player honestly on both teams. As soon as anyone is getting touched here it's straight down to the ice. There's just flopping all over the ice. It's honestly tough to watch at this point.

A few players were singled out, despite his belief that this issue is league-wide, such as Zach Hyman, Connor McDavid, Conor Garland, Brock Boeser and Nikita Zadorov. The sport is a lot less interesting when players embellish. It might be a strategic move, but no one likes to see that. Do you think referees should pay more attention to embellishments in the playoffs?
