After all parties violated the IIHF transfer agreements, the International Ice Hockey Federation imposed sanctions against CSKA Moscow and Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ivan Fedotov.

This comes after Ivan Fedotov was allowed to play in the KHL while under an active contract with the Flyers.
In addition to the Fedotov news, Philadelphia Flyers fans were hopeful this week when prized prospect Matvei Michkov was spotted wearing orange and black workout gear in a social media video.
The possibility of the 2023 No. 7 overall pick arriving in Philadelphia before his KHL contract ends in 2026 seemed plausible. However, this hope was dampened over the weekend.
Fedotov, 27, signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Flyers on May 7, 2022. However, complications arose when he was conscripted into the Russian military, delaying his North American career.
Despite being banned by the IIHF, Fedotov continued to play, resulting in significant sanctions announced last Saturday.
The IIHF imposed a two-year transfer ban on all international transfers until August 10, 2026. Fedotov was suspended from representing Russia in any international competition, including the Olympics, for three years.
Additionally, he received a six-month suspension from playing in any club games if he leaves the NHL, potentially affecting his future in the KHL. The Russian Federation was fined 1 million Swiss Francs.
Although technically unrelated, these sanctions might impact the Flyers' plans to bring over Michkov. Michkov, under contract with SKA St. Petersburg until the 2025-26 season, is one of the top players not currently in the NHL.
Negotiations for Michkov's future are ongoing, potentially paving the way for him to arrive in Philadelphia earlier than expected.
Despite challenges, Michkov has showcased his talent, nearly breaking Kirill Kaprizov's U20 player production record in KHL history. Third-party officials, including Michkov's agents, are believed to be in touch with SKA St. Petersburg regarding his future, potentially negotiating a settlement or buyout of his current contract.
