The Winnipeg Jets have consistently been one of the better teams in the NHL this season. However, the team's attendance numbers are becoming increasingly troubling.

Jets Owner Expresses Concern About Team Attendance Numbers

Jets chairman Mark Chipman recently expressed serious concern about the team's declining season-ticket holders. The Jets have seen a steady decline in fans renewing their passes and it has gotten to the point where the team is drawing crowds so small that is it unsustainable.

Despite being a strong playoff team, Winnipeg has the 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 in the #NHL this season (13,098), only ahead of the #Coyotes.

According to the Athletic, Winnipeg's season ticket holder total has dropped 𝟮𝟳% over the last three seasons, going from 13,000 to 9,500.

This issue has become so prevalent in fact, that it has drawn eyes from the highest levels of the NHL league office.

Gary Bettman To Visit Winnipeg Regarding Attendance Numbers

NHL insider Chris Johnston discussed the issues in Winnipeg today on a segment with TSN. He noted that the league is keeping a close eye on the attendance problems in Winnipeg, implying that the team could potentially be relocated if things do not improve.

Jets' dropping ticket sales something the league office is «obviously monitoring closely» as Gary Bettman is set to visit Winnipeg.

All of this seems to point to a desperate team and a fanbase that is either reluctant or simply unable to support them anymore.
