The controversy in Vancouver continues to grow with each passing day, and former GM Doug MacLean has just leaked a juicy rumor regarding Thatcher Demko.

No Vancouver Canucks fan doesn't know the drama going on between forwards J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson.

The reports also came in that Vancouver, frustrated with Miller's fall in performance and ice time, had even considered trading him, and the New Jersey Devils were considered one of his possible destinations.

While this season is not going well for the Canucks, the soap operas in the locker room are getting thicker.

Doug MacLean reports Thatcher Demko wants out of Vancouver

On the latest episode of 'Kyper and Bourne', Doug MacLean insinuated that possibly the situation could be affecting goaltender Thatcher Demko's desire to play.

Doug MacLean: I'm even hearing Demko doesn't want to really play.

MacLean also trashed Demko's .762 save percentage in a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. However, when pushed further, the Canadian commentator backtracked and maintained he was repeating rumors, not fact.

"I know he's been injured but I mean, I watched last night. I mean three nothing before the game even starts. I mean this guy is the backbone of their team. I mean what's going on with his injury situation? Where's his head right now with respect to playing? I'll tell you they've got to fix a few things in Vancouver real fast and to let it percolate this long is beyond me- is beyond me."

"Like I'm telling you boys, as Mum used to say- as Fran MacLean, my mother used to say, 'I'm only telling you what I heard, boys, I'm not telling you it's the truth' you know, so make sure you have that caveat. I hear that he's not that excited to get in the net right now and I'm sure it's not the injury because I know the Canucks would make sure that's 100% before he's getting in there, but he's got to be a motivated goaltender. He's the backbone of this team as recently as a year or two ago, I mean, so let's hope that he is 100% healthy and he's ready to play and wants to play."

- Doug MacLean

While there is absolutely no proof that the problems in the locker room have something to do with Demko's motivation, there is little doubt that this team is not working as a team.

As the trade deadline draws near on March 7th, the fans hope the tensions ease down so that the Canucks get a chance, and Demko does too, to turn their season around.
