The New York Rangers continue to find themselves in the middle of trade reports as they have now placed yet another player on the trade block. After trading former captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks earlier this month GM Chris Drury has gone on a trading frenzy. He then traded former second-overall pick Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken after Kakko spoke out about his treatment by the coaching staff.

With both of these trades completed within a couple of weeks of one another many expected GM Chris Drury to calm things down and stray away from the trade market for a while. However, that does not seem to be the case as a new report has come out revealing that defenseman Ryan Lindgren is one player who the Rangers are reportedly looking to move on from.
Rangers reportedly looking to move on from defenseman Ryan Lindgren
As the New York Rangers continue to re-tool their roster toward becoming a younger and less salary cap-constrained roster a new report has linked the team to yet another move. According to a new article from The Athletic two names that have been circulating in trade discussions from the Rangers are forward Jimmy Vesey and defenseman Ryan Lindgren. Vesey is a veteran depth forward who likely won't get much of a return but if the Rangers are in a selling mode for the season sending him to a new home could net a couple of draft picks. More interestingly Lindgren gets named by The Athletic as a player the Rangers could be willing to move on from at just 26 years old. He's been a warrior, but Lindgren has a lot of miles, bumps and bruises on him. He's not mobile. He's not quick. Adam Fox needs a defense partner that can be a safety net for him, which Lindgren has been for years. But Fox needs a defense partner with some more life in his legs than Lindgren has left. Lindgren has struggled to stay healthy during his Rangers tenure but has been a key part of building the culture and toughness within the group over their competitive window. Despite his contributions, it seems Chris Drury might be ready to move on and give someone else an opportunity to shift the culture that clearly has not lived up to expectations this season.

With the NHL Trade Deadline just a couple of months away Lindgren, Vesey, and the entire Rangers roster will be on trade watch as Chris Drury continues to overhaul the roster.
