QMJHL defenseman Justin Blais responds to fan support after his scary injury in last night's game

Last night QMJHL defenseman Justin Blais suffered a terrifying injury against Baie-Comeau Drakkar and today he decided to make a statement about the incident.

Each season the sport of hockey sees a various amount of serious injuries throughout the season. Last night one of those injuries occurred as Justin Blais of the Gatineau Olympiques was hit and fell hitting his head. Immediately, medical personnel tended to Blais, and he had to leave the game on a stretcher. As he was heading off the ice on the stretcher Justin Blais did regain consciousness. After he was taken off the ice it was decided by the two teams that the game would be called.

Now just a day later Justin Blais and the Gatineau Olympiques have issued a statement including a major update on his health and status going forward.

In a post on X, the Gatineau Olympiques shared an update on Justin Blais. In the post, Justin Blais can be seen in a neck brace with cuts and bruises on his face from the fall but still giving a thumbs up and a smile to the camera. He wanted to make sure to thank all of the supporters who have wished him well over the last few days.

Before his injury Justin Blais had played in 12 games in the QMJHL with the Gatineau Olympiques. In those 12 games he tallied a total of 2 points.

We continue to wish Justin Blais, his family, and the Gatineau Olympiques all the best as he continues to recover from such a serious injury. Once Justin Blais is able to return he will continue to try and build up his junior hockey career success in the QMJHL. Justin Blais will be draft eligible in 2026 and hope to hear his name called once he bounces back from such a scary incident.
