Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman has earned a reputation as a goal-scoring defenseman with fan-favorite celebrations. However, the 6'2" 220 pound blueliner is also not afraid to through his weight around. That is exactly what he did tonight as he laid out Matthew Tkachuk with a massive hip check.







Luckily, Tkachuk seemed no worse for wear as he quickly skated to the bench and continued to play in the game.

Tkachuk Gets Last Laugh As Panthers Take Down Red Wings

It was Tkachuk who will leave the game satisfied though as the Panthers handily defeated the home team 4-0. Matthew lead the team with five shots on goal and was rewarded with an assist for his efforts.



It was a huge win for the cats as they look to secure the top spot in the Atlantic division. With the victory, the team is now 2 points ahead of the Bruins with the same number of games played. Detroit on the other hand is falling out of the race for 3rd in the division as they will now likely be competing for a wild card spot.
