Easton Cowan was a surprise selection when the Toronto Maple Leafs picked him in the 1st round last summer. However, he has since proved that the team was right to pick him where they did.
Cowan Breaks McDavid's Scoring Record With Short-Handed Goal
The 19-year-old center has been playing in the OHL this season after he turned heads with his play at Leafs training camp. He is up to 30 goals and 80 points in 46 games with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. last night, he scored his 30th goal of the season, extending his active point streak to 28 games.

Cowan's 28-game point streak puts him among the longest in OHL history. Notably, he now has a longer streak than NHL stars Connor McDavid and Alex DeBrincat, both of whom recorded 27-game streaks in their OHL careers.

Brad Treliving Confirms Cowan Is Off The Table In Trade Negotiations
The 19-year-old prospect has been the subject of some trade rumors this season as the Leafs look to buy at the trade deadline. If the team is looking to make major moves, top prospects often are part of the return going the other way. While the Leafs may be open to trading some of their prospects, general manager Brad Treliving has made it clear that Cowan is not available.
