The Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres could be cooking up a big trade at this very moment according to new rumors that have emerged surrounding the teams. The main player caught up in these rumors from the Sabres side is former 17th overall pick Peyton Krebs, whom the team acquired from Vegas in the Jack Eichel deal. Krebs has not met expectations in buffalo, being reduced to a fourth line, energy type role. As such, it may make sense for the team to move him, as players of that caliber are easily replaced. Peyton Krebs is still on the Sabres roster but his role has seemingly been filled with the offseason additions. Does a move to the wing make sense? What is their plan for him moving forward?

That being said, some Sabres fans are against the idea. Clearly, Krebs' value right now is about as low as it ever has been. He's coming off a season where he scored just 4 goals and 17 points. His career highs in those categories are 9 and 26, respectively. His value is rock bottom right now I'm not sure anyone wants him. Former 17th overall pick or not... how do you shop this guy? Probably gets a Jokiharju deal and kept as the 13th forward when someone goes down.

That being said, the Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly very interested in adding the forward to their team, according to rumor reporter Eklund of Hockeybuzz.com. According to him, Krebs is the team's top target in trade negotiations at this time. Spoke to a source today who said the Flyers are STILL pushing for a deal with Buffalo to acquire Peyton Krebs. Philly is also interested in Mattias Samuelsson. There isn't an awkward situation anymore with Mattias' dad, Kjell, being part of Hockey Ops and player Development for Philly. That situation would have unfair to Mattias but is no longer a factor. However, the main target is still Krebs. It likely would not cost much to secure Krebs for the Flyers, but he could be just one piece of a bigger deal, should the Sabres be in the mood to add something else to their squad. Eklund also reports that the Sabres are interested in Joel Farabee, which would certainly cost more than just Krebs. He also did not reveal whether or not the Flyers would be willing to move Farabee. As such, this trade is still very much up in the air.
