The Boston Bruins placed a huge amount of faith in Elias Lindholm in free agency, but now, he's already sidelined with an injury.

This summer, the Boston Bruins front office knew they needed to add some depth and star power to their roster, and after years of being linked to the team, they finally landed Elias Lindholm in free agency, signing him to a seven-year deal worth $7.8 million annually.

Both parties were thrilled that they could finally make a deal happen, and after struggling with centre depth for years, the team landed their 1C of the near future in a move they hope can help get them deep into the Stanley Cup Playoffs after years of short runs. However, the 29-year old is now dealing with what has been described as an 'undisclosed injury', one that is bad enough to keep him off the ice for the next week.

Thankfully, this appears as though it won't put his availability for the regular season opener in doubt, but given that he is new to the team, it's going to mean a week less of getting to know his new team and building chemistry on the ice. With over 800 games of NHL experience, Lindholm has the talent and the experience to overcome a few days off the ice, but given his injury issues over the last few years, with a wrist injury bothering him in Vancouver, the team will be hoping it doesn't become a much larger issue.

Given that Charlie Coyle and Matthew Poitras are the Bruins next two centre's, the team will be put in a very tough position if Lindholm does need to spend any regular season time on the sidelines, but if not, No. 28 has the opportunity to put up numbers alongside David Pastrnak that we haven't seen since his 2021/22 campaign alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk.
