There was nearly a scary scene last night in the Boston Bruins game versus the Pittsburgh Penguins when Michael Bunting nearly clipped Brad Marchand with his skate blade. Hockey is a dangerous game, however, there are lots of precautions taken to try and mitigate any potential risks. One of those risks is injuries from skate blades, which is a hard one to mitigate. Last night, a scary scene was close to happening when Bunting's skate blade almost caught Brad Marchand. During the play, Bunting and Marchand were going at each other in the open ice, when Marchand tripped Bunting. It was at this point Bunting's skate came up and nearly hit Marchand. Take a look. This is insane. I'm rattled man.

It is impossible to say that Bunting did this on purpose, as the post suggests, and this is a serious allegation to make without much evidence. Slowing the video down of course looks bad, but I don't think this is enough to ascribe blame to Bunting. Marchand was luckily able to skate away from the incident. He was even part of a goal for the Bruins in their win over the struggling Penguins.

The incident does beg the question of whether or not the NHL should discuss mandatory cut-proof equipment for players this offseason. This was a massive topic of conversation earlier this season.
