A new mock trade has surfaced this afternoon that would send Bruins RFA Jeremy Swayman to the Anaheim Ducks with John Gibson coming back in return. The Boston Bruins' offseason has not been as successful as many had hoped. To this point, the Bruins have been unable to re-sign restricted free agent Jeremy Swayman to a new contract. Combine that with the fact that the Bruins traded away Linus Ullmark and the Bruins goaltending situation is looking grim. According to reports Jeremy Swayman is willing to sit out the beginning of the season in pursuit of his new long-term contract. If the Bruins do not have him signed by opening night they would go into the first game with Joonas Korpisalo as their starting goalie.

If Jeremy Swayman's absence extends into the season the Bruins might begin to think about trading him. If a trade is on the table then a new mock trade could be the solution to the Boston Bruins' current nightmare.
New mock trade ends the Jeremy Swayman saga with a blockbuster
A new post on NHL Trade Rumors has linked the Anaheim Ducks to Jeremy Swayman. The mock trade proposed would send Jeremy Swayman to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for John Gibson and a 2025 1st-round pick.

This trade on the surface looks relatively fair. The Anaheim Ducks get a younger star goaltender to go along with their young exciting core. The Boston Bruins bring in a veteran to keep their playoff window open and add a first round pick as extra ammo for another trade or to build their prospect pool. The only problem is that John Gibson is currently going to be out for 3-6 weeks after undergoing surgery for an appendectomy.

This likely means a trade of this magnitude would not be completed until a couple of weeks into the season. If the Boston Bruins realize that Jeremy Swayman is for sure unwilling to sign then they could end up making this deal. The Bruins likely end up losing this trade but if it is their only option to not lose Jeremy Swayman for free then they could do a lot worse than adding a former top 5 goalie in the league John Gibson. If more reports come out regarding the future of Jeremy Swayman and potential trades we will pass them along to you.
