Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been linked in a potential off-season trade with the Vancouver Canucks.

A year to forget for Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who continues to struggle reaching the potential he was given when he was drafted third overall in 2018 by the Montreal Canadiens. The forward has 6 years left on his luxurious deal given by Don Waddell.

It seems like his cap hit may be gone with the abundance of UFA's to be signed in Carolina. The Vancouver Canucks have emerged interest in the finnish forward, despite his underwhelming season.

Kotkaniemi was originally selected third overall in the 2018 NHL draft and was expected to become a star but at 23 years old, it does not look like that will be happening anytime soon or even at all.

A buyout was the likely trend, but according to reports many teams may be interested in buying low for the 23 year old centre, a lucky break for both the Hurricanes and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
