After his debut last night with the Edmonton Oilers defenseman Jake Walman took a major shot at his former team the San Jose Sharks during an interview.

With the trade deadline looming the Edmonton Oilers completed a trade with the San Jose Sharks to acquire Jake Walman.

The Oilers brought Walman in to be an offensive catalyst and breakout machine on the back end for the rest of the season and into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In his first contest with the team against the Dallas Stars Walman was outstanding playing significant minutes and tallying his first point with the Oilers.

After the game, Walman was of course the most popular player that the media wanted to hear from and he did not disappoint having some great insight on his new opportunity in Edmonton and spicing things up by taking a shot at his former team in San Jose.

Jake Walman Takes A Brutal Shot At His Former Team In Post-Game Interview

During his post-game availability, Walman was asked pretty standard questions for a player who has just traded to a new home.

First, he spoke about how much the opportunity means to him that he can be part of something special in Edmonton heading to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I've always wanted to be a part of a team that has a chance, and I just want to try and add as much as I can and not disrupt too much he added. I think they have a really good thing going and I can fit into the right spots where I can. I'm just really excited to add a little bit to the team.

Then he took a not-so-subtle dig at his former team the San Jose Sharks when asked what he is most excited for in his new home.

Playing meaningful games.

The San Jose Sharks of course during all of Walman's tenure were not successful on the ice and even before his time in San Jose Walman saw struggles with the Detroit Red Wings in their down years as well.

Now, for the first time in his career, Walman will have an opportunity to compete for a Stanley Cup and he seems to be eager to show he can handle that responsibility.

As the season continues it will be fun to see if Walman can continue to live up to expectations or if this will be a trade that Stan Bowman and the front office end up going on to regret.
