Earlier this month Connor Bedard struggled at World Championships now one of his Blackhawks teammates Philipp Kurashev spoke about the pressures that Bedard faced this season. Connor Bedard dealt with a lot during his first NHL season. He had a severe jaw injury that kept him out for over a month. He also had constant pressure from fans and the media to be a generational talent. Now one of his teammates Philipp Kurashev spoke about how that pressure and attention impacted Connor Bedard. Sometimes I felt sorry for him. He was our player who had to speak to the media most often. When it was related to our team, he was always targeted. He had meetings all the time: interviews, photo shoots and all sorts of things that I don't even know about. Even in the hotels or on the street, everyone kept wanting something from him. All of this attention was an adjustment for Connor Bedard who of course was well known during his days in the WHL but not as followed by the entire world. It seems that constant attention and pressure might have worn out Connor Bedard by the time the World Championships came along. He struggled to produce and had his ice-time limited as the tournament went on. Lines for Canada vs. Slovakia. Connor Bedard is CAN's 13th forward. Puck drop at 10:20 AM ET. #MensWorlds

There has been a lot of speculation that Connor Bedard suffered an injury during the tournament and that is why his ice time was limited. If not then it was a fatal blunder by the Canadian coaching staff that prohibited them from reaching the Gold Medal game. As the offseason continues we will likely hear from the Canadian superstar himself regarding what happened during World Championships. Hopefully, as the 2024-25 season begins Connor Bedard can come in fully healthy and ready to succeed.
