Tyler Bertuzzi is joining the Chicago Blackhawks on a four-year deal worth $5.5 million per season. At 29, Bertuzzi scored 21 goals in 80 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season and had a 30-goal season with the Detroit Red Wings in 2021-22. Known for his physical play, he recorded 98 hits while averaging 16 minutes of ice time per game with the Leafs. In Chicago, he's expected to skate in the top six alongside Calder Trophy winner Connor Bedard. Tyler Bertuzzi, signed 4x$5.5M by CHI, hard-working offensive winger who creates scoring opportunities in the net-front both by shooting and passing the puck. The finishing touch has always been streaky, peaking at a 36-goal pace in the 2021-22 season

This marks Bertuzzi's third NHL team since leaving the Detroit Red Wings before the 2023 trade deadline. Bertuzzi made a significant impact during his time with the Bruins in the latter half of that season, especially in their first-round series against the Florida Panthers, where he led his team with 10 points in seven games. Assuming he gets a bigger role that includes PP1 time (something he probably wouldn't have received in TOR), a $5.5M deal is pretty fair for Tyler Bertuzzi. Should be a nice injection of talent for CHI who could put up 55-to-60 points while being a strong 5-on-5 play-driver.

The standout performance caught the attention of several teams, including Toronto. Last season, he was brought in to boost Toronto's offense, and while he showed flashes of brilliance, but his performance was inconsistent, and it showed in the playoffs as he only managed four points in seven games. Yet both sides still wanted a reunion until it was reported the forward priced himself out of town. Tyler Bertuzzi won't be returning to the Maple Leafs. His value has out priced Toronto. He will land a deal elsewhere in the 4 year and over $5 mil per territory.

Now, that he's sealed the bag from GM Kyle Davidson and enters a new chapter of his career on a team with different competitive intentions than the city he just departed. Yet, he's expected to be a part of the beast the Blackhawks are trying to build over the next few seasons in order to be contenders again.
